The dry season begins in May, and while some strays are spotted moving north toward the Seronera area, the majority of the herds are observed traveling across the Western Corridor in large columns. Following the Mbalageti River, which offers nourishment in the form of vast grassy plains and woods, the mass of animals eventually assemble on the banks of the Grumeti River at the end of the month. The herds’ first significant challenge will be this one.
With the extra advantage of fewer people to deal with at crossing sites, the Grumeti crossing offers some excellent sightings even though it may not be as dangerous as the well-known Mara River crossing.
Eating beneath the African stars is a thrilling experience, whether you are dining by a river, with crocodiles and hippos howling in the darkness, or with the huge plains stretching out in front of you. In the middle of the surrounding forest, candlelight, lanterns, and campfires usually illuminate the path to what promises to be an amazing dinner. A bush meal is an essential component of any East African migratory safari, whether it is planned as a family gathering, romantic picnic, or group get-together.
The thatched safari rooms at Mbali Mbali Soroi Serengeti Lodge are situated atop a natural plateau, offering panoramic views of the Musabi plains in the Western Corridor. This is an excellent site to base yourself and provides an excellent vantage point to watch the vast herds from above as the animals move up towards the northern plains of the Serenegti (between March and June). The Mbali Mbali Soroi Serengeti Lodge is a great option for anyone looking for a more opulent lodge experience rather than a tented camp.
Perched high above the Moru Kopjes, Naona Moru Camp affords visitors expansive vistas spanning from the southern Serengeti grasslands to the central hub, from which they may observe the throngs of migrating animals en route to the Mara. Ten tented, ultra-luxurious suites at the tiny camp cater to all types of safari guests, from groups of friends and family to couples hoping to cross the big wildebeest migration off their bucket lists.
Nestled among the pristine forests of the Central Serengeti, One Nature Nyaruswiga is an eco-luxury camp that is surrounded by the majestic Nyaruswiga Hills. The 14 safari tents, which have a view of the boundless plains and open savannah, provide a wonderful starting point for exploring the surroundings and serve as a spectacular backdrop for the yearly migration of animals across the plains. Nyaruswiga Hills is a suitable base with short trips east or west to watch the herds because of its central location.
