By December, the great herds have reached the southern Serengeti where a blanket of fresh grass has now covered the plains once again. The survivors have successfully completed the Great Migration circuit, and are being rewarded with a feast of new shoots to enjoy. As the grazing commences, however, the predators reveal themselves, and so the circle of life begins once again.
Soon, the herds will begin calving once again, the plains will become depleted and the Great Migration will kick off with a fresh new set of dramatic encounters in one of the most jaw-dropping wildlife phenomena on the planet.

Situated on a small marsh in the Ndutu sector of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the camp is open from early December to late March. This places visitors right in the middle of the movement as they assemble in the south once more to eat the fresh, nutrient-rich green shoots in anticipation of the start of calving season.
