Two isolated, abundant wildlife conservancies are visited during this 7-day remote Kenya safari. Take a camel safari to see a different side of Kenya and walk along forest paths and pristine mountain streams.
Lewa is home to 70 known mammal species and offers a variety of habitats, including acacia woodland, rich grasslands, natural springs, and breathtaking views of snowcapped Mount Kenya.
Next, visit the Matthews Range, which is covered in tropical forests and is home to a variety of birds, amazing butterflies, and elusive animals. With the assistance of a local Samburu guide who will divulge the forest’s mysteries, explore the forest pathways.
Discover firsthand how African wildlife and wilderness places are truly conserved.
See Kenya’s game-rich regions for a thrilling and diverse safari.
Go up into the Matthews Range on a rough 4×4 trail and into a genuinely Samburu environment.
Get off the game vehicle and experience the freedom of walking over elephant routes, hidden creeks, and places that are only seen by a select few.
Enjoy bush lunches, campfire stories, and stargazing while lodging in opulent safari camps.
A scheduled flight to the Lewa Conservancy in the morning kicks off your distant Kenya safari trip. You can explore this varied and wildlife-rich Kenyan terrain for several days.
This is one of the best locations in Kenya to watch rhinos, Gravy’s zebras, and endangered cheetahs. When you go on game drives with native guides, you may be able to spot buffalo-tamed lions or languishing leopards.
A fresh perspective on the African bush can be gained with each wildlife drive. An alternative is to take a safari on horseback or, for those who are less experienced, a safari on camels.
With sweeping views of the plains and springs below, savor picnic lunches atop a hill.
Enjoy a refreshing sundowner while taking in the sights of the plains animals at the end of the day, and then return to camp for a hearty meal.
Complete meals and lodging at Lewa Safari Camp (FB)
As you go higher up and get farther away from civilization, the road turns into a 4×4 track.
The camp in this special hiding place is a welcome sight at the end of this winding journey.
You will be there in time for a delectable, freshly prepared meal. Following tea and cakes in the afternoon, you can go on a Samburu guide-led afternoon stroll through the forest. Savor the quiet and peace of the place. Feel all of the stresses of the contemporary world melt away as you listen to the sounds of the bush.
All meals and lodging at Kitich Camp (FB) or Sarara Camp
The following days of your Kenyan vacation should be spent unwinding and discovering this stunning area. As the elephants move through the jungle, follow the old trails they left behind. Listen to the elephants call one another through the woods. As they descend to the stream in front of the camp, observe the bushbuck.
The abundance of birds in this area will wake you up with a dawn symphony. After strolling through the dapple-shaded woodland, take a dip in one of the chilly, pristine pools. Trek through the area’s endemic ancient cycads as you ascend the mountain. Enjoy pre-dinner cocktails, reminisce about the day’s events, and listen to the scoops owl’s call while sitting around the campfire in the evenings.
You will return down the mountain range on the last morning of your Remote Kenya Safari in order to catch your aircraft back to Nairobi, where this tour comes to a close.
