The Laikipia Plateau, which is situated between Mount Kenya and Kenya’s northern deserts, is where your safari will begin. A great place to explore away from the bustle.
Next, proceed to the Masai Mara, where you may experience being in the center of one of Africa’s most game-rich regions. Here, you can always find a variety of native species against the backdrop of breathtaking scenery. Proceed to the Serengeti, where lions and cheetahs stalk vast herds of plains animals over the grasslands. Seek out leopards lounging in the dappled sunlight high in the riverine forest’s branches.
And lastly, onto Lake Victoria, one of Africa’s largest lakes. Remain on a private island that serves as a haven for endangered chimpanzees and the shy sitatunga antelope.
Depart the busy metropolis early on the first morning of your East African safari and take an aircraft to the Laikipia highland plateau. The Ewaso Ng’iro River sustains the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to a diverse array of fauna. During a late-afternoon game drive, be on the lookout for the long-necked Gerenuk and Beisa Oryx. Enjoy a restful sleep at your opulent Kenya safari lodging.
A game drive can be taken to search for some of the 100 black rhinos that live in the tangled acacia forest or the endangered Grevy’s zebra that lives on the grassy plains. Get up early to witness the dawn of a new day. You can also find the main five here. A distinctive and varied safari experience is provided by the wild creatures coexisting with the world’s largest herd of Boran cattle, who have pioneered a mutually beneficial land management technique.
Join a guided bush walk in the early hours of the morning to get up close and personal with the local wildlife. Discover the birds, the environment, the insects, how to read animal footprints, and how to recognize different species.
See the world’s remaining Northern White rhinos, visit their enclosure, and talk to their caretakers about the efforts being made to protect this critically endangered species. Alternatively, go on an optional outing to spend time tracking and learning about the local lion population with the researchers in the reserve.
Take a night drive as the sun sets and see the wonders of Kenya’s nightlife in the bush. Your guide will use a bright spotlight to follow nocturnal animals.
You will take your last game drive in Laikipia today after breakfast before traveling to the airstrip and flying to the Masai Mara. Your guide will greet you at the airport and take you to your opulent camp, which is ideally situated above the Talek River to witness the major migration river crossings. With its expansive vistas of the plains, the camp is surrounded by a diverse range of high densities of African wildlife. A great place to watch game all year round is the renowned Masai Mara.
You have the option to begin your East African safari with a breathtaking hot air balloon trip above the savannah in the early morning. Alternatively, embark on a morning equestrian excursion to observe the profusion of fauna that inhabits the Mara. After that, take a drive in the afternoon to take in the variety of landscapes and wildlife that the Masai Mara has to offer.
With the knowledgeable assistance of Il Dorobo and Masai guides, explore the Masai Mara. For some exceptional game viewing, the wildlife and bird watching game drives can be customized to meet personal needs and interests. You can visit a nearby Masai hamlet as an optional trip to experience a cultural aspect of the traditional Masai way of life.
Get up early, drive a game drive in the early morning, then return to the camp for breakfast. Proceed to the airstrip to join a chartered flight to the Kenyan-Tanzanian border after breakfast. After that, you will take a quick, picturesque drive across Tanzania’s border to catch a flight that will take you deeper into the Serengeti. You will be driven to your new camp by a guide, who will meet you in time for a late lunch. Following that, you might embark on a game drive and begin your Serengeti exploration.
You will go farther in the Serengeti on your game drives today. You are likely to see several of these huge cats along with other predators in the Serengeti, which is thought to be home to the biggest number of lions in Africa because of the abundance of plains game.
During an early morning hot air balloon safari, you can choose to enjoy an optional add-on activity such as game viewing from above and witness the dramas unfolding below. Alternatively, you can enjoy a thrilling morning bush walk where you can wander among the wildlife.
If not, go on game drives in the morning and afternoon to explore the area. Your Serengeti camp offers plenty of adventure and excitement as well as peaceful reflection and relaxation.
This morning it is time to say goodbye to the Serengeti plains and hello to the beach wilderness on Lake Victoria. This is a truly wild area, where elephants roam and butterflies flit through the indigenous rainforest. After a short flight, you land on the largest island National Park in the world—Rubondo Island.
A guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your new camp on the lake shore of Lake Victoria. Here you will spend the next three nights with plenty of time to explore the water and forest. Surrounded by beaches and rocky coves, this forested island offers some of the most untouched wilderness in Africa.
The next two days are yours to explore this unspoiled area. You can spend your days on guided forest hikes and guided chimpanzee experiences around the chimp environment if you are an adventurous and active person. The chimps are currently being acclimated to human presence; however, this process is ongoing.
Another option is to take a game drive into the forest, passing past old, massive trees that appear to dwarf the nearby giraffes, elephants, and bushbuck. The shy and elusive sitatunga antelope, which hides in the papyrus swamp with crocodiles and hippos, can be found on a swamp expedition close to the lakeside. On a boat safari or in a kayak, you may also explore the surroundings from the water.
Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast outside on the deck with a view of the lake on the last day of your East Africa safari, followed by a quick ride to the airfield. For your next travel plans, you will catch an aircraft to Arusha Airport from here.
